Congratulations, you’ve made it through the chaotic waters of October and November. That’s not to say we’ve entered into a barren wasteland however. While the total number of games launching in December may be down significantly from the past couple of months, there’s still a couple that may hold some sway with gamers.
With the weather getting colder and snow arriving for much of the Northern Hemisphere, you may be in the mood for a winter sports game. Ubisoft has you covered there as their new IP Steep launches early this month. You’ll be able to virtually ski, snowboard, parachute, or glide around the snowy peaks of the Alps.
Shockingly, The Last Guardian is finally ready to make it’s long overdue debut. It’s a sentence I never thought I’d write.
Also, what are the holidays without a little bit of zombie bashing, am I right? Dead Rising 4 wants to fill that void in your life with Frank West returning to do the honors.
While there are a couple games worth keeping an eye on, take the next couple of months to catch up on that backlog because if the previous couple years are any indication, things will pick back up again in February.

Please please please please let Last Guardian be good.
It’s been awhile since we’ve seen a new snowbarding game. I wonder what Steep will do differently.
The biggest hook from what I can see is that it’s basically an open mountain where you can switch between walking, skiiing, snowboarding, using a parachute or wingsuit whenever you want.
I’ll have to check out “Steep”… I heard that name mentioned a while ago. Hopefully it will be something interesting, and not new skin on an old game, a la Tony Hawk games.
And… The Last Guardian! Here it comes, folks!
Fingers crossed for both The Last Guardian and Steep. The world could always use another interesting snowboarding/winter sports title.
Absolutely 🙂 I’m waiting for the spiritual successor of NES’s Winter Games, too, so maybe this’ll be it.
HA! Completely forgot about that one!
I played the Steep beta and didn’t love it mostly because I sucked at the controls so I guess that’s on me. The soundtrack was good and the aspect of being able to switch from Skiing and Snowboarding to Paragliding and wing suiting is pretty cool. Gonna pass on it though, Last Guardian, finally!
Yeah, I agree. I was invited to the Alpha a couple months back and kinda felt the same way as you.
I want to like the game because it has some great ideas, but the controls took me out of the experience. I’m on the fence about it. I guess for now I’ll hop back into SSX.
Don’t forget Don Bradman Cricket 17 released on December 22nd in the UK!
Very interesting, didn’t see that one. Thanks for the tip!
