February is finally here and we’re starting to see the release schedule pick up a little bit. Honestly, the big rush won’t come until next month, but for now, here are some of the games that stand out this month.
For fans of last year’s surprise hit, Dying Light, you’ll be happy to note that the Enhanced Edition is finally hitting store shelves. This version includes every single piece of DLC released over the past year, which does include the meaty new story content known as The Following. In addition, the game has also gotten a slight make over and the team has tweaked, balanced, and fixed a lot of elements to the game, which should not only please new comers but those who have played the game before.
If you’re in the market for a big name this month, then for fighting fans, it probably doesn’t get much bigger than Street Fighter. After a lot of beta tests over the past few months, Street Fighter V is finally official, even though it’s cutting a core group of gamers out of the experience by arriving on PC and PS4 platforms only.
Even PC players get in on the fun this month as XCOM 2 finally releases after it’s delay out of the fall time frame last year. Strategy gamers unite!

Wait….XCOM 2 is a PC exclusive? Isn’t there going to be a multiplatform release like the original?
Unfortunately not. I don’t know the reasons behind it but for the time being XCOM 2 is PC only.
I’ve heard rumors that Firaxis has no plans to port it to consoles. I’d assume that a bag of money would change their tune over time, but who knows.
I’ve since looked it up. Apparently, all the levels are procedurally-generated. They wanted that to be a really robust feature of game and it seems that they didn’t think that the current consoles could handle it.
They’re open to the idea, but currently have no plans to do so.
I’ll still get it eventually since I recently upgraded to a solid laptop, but it still stinks that it won’t be on PS4. PC is nice, but I prefer console you know?
Yeah, I’m with you man, I have a gaming ready PC which is great, but I do prefer consoles, so I’m a little bummed no XCOM 2…at least for now.
That first part boggles my mind a little though. These new consoles can’t handle procedurally-generated levels? I’m not a tech guy or anything, but that surprises me.
Perhaps they were already too far along in development to accommodate the new consoles? PS4 and Xbox One were still relatively new and untested in 2014, and it’s likely that XCOM 2 was already in development when Enemy Within was released back in 2013.
Yeah, that’s a good point.
By that logic, it’ll take some time to ramp up development to the console platforms. It seems like a no brainer to me.
Gravity Rush Remaster!
I’ve heard good things about the original so I’m pretty interested in checking this out.
