Batman: Arkham Knight has been taking up a lot of my time lately, a fact which probably upsets Geralt of Rivia.
While the game so far is excellent and is pretty much a fantastic looking version of the previous Rocksteady Arkham games, I ran into a pretty weird glitch the other night which I managed to capture.
Upon being bested by a rooftop of dudes, Batman respawned on top of a nearby building. Normally, this is standard procedure for open world games, respawning players near the spot where your character died. Unfortunately for me, it’s almost like a portal opened up immediately under Batman and instead of standing, brooding over the city, he was pulled below the world, falling into the ever blackness of space and time. Apparently, Scarecrow and the Arkham Knight had finally found a way to defeat Batman once and for all. Get the Dark Knight stuck in a glitchly loop.
I tried to get Batman back into the world using his dive and glide techniques, but ultimately I couldn’t fly high enough to get back into the world. So, after falling long enough that the game could no longer register my position, Batman was killed off again. Unfortunately, after the load, I respawned right in the exact same location with the exact same glitch. Instead of letting Batman plummet for a good minute, I manually reloaded, but as soon as Batman began to fall through the world, I immediately kicked off a glide and thankfully, hadn’t yet fallen through the world so I was able to glide a safe distance away and grapple over to a nearby building. The area where the glitch occurred looked almost corrupted, with textures not loading. I could tell I was far enough away when the city returned to looking normal. I mean, as normal as a empty city full of weirdos, criminals, and psychopaths could look I guess. The death loop had finally ended.
Anyway, if you want to see the madness, here’s the footage. Enjoy!
Still more playable than the PC version.
Sadly, so true. So true, indeed.
