After going completely silent since it’s original announcement, Avalanche Studios has finally released a compelling trailer showing off the many gameplay features of their upcoming Mad Max game. From the looks of the footage, it’s going to be a beautifully huge game that stays true to the spirit of the franchise.

I’m a little shocked right now, the next Call of Duty actually looks interesting to me. However, this is territory that Deus Ex has covered before, and I’m having a hard time believing that CoD could handle the scenario anywhere near as well as Deus Ex. Here’s hoping they’ll at least capitalize on this idea and make some genuinely interesting gameplay with it.
Frankly, I’m surprised they stuck with Black Ops for this long. I didn’t know the story could continue forward like this.
The trailer looks cool but I don’t know, I’m still very much on the fence about it. It looks like they combined elements of Titanfall, Deus Ex, and Advanced Warfare which…is fine, but has been done before. I guess I need to see more of the game.
I’d be more inclined to have confidence in it if two things were different:
1.) This wasn’t released as a Call of Duty game, because that name carries certain expectations with it.
2.) If it wasn’t following the 2-year, Call of Duty development cycle. It’s hard for a AAA game to be new and fresh when there’s not time to innovate.
