Behind closed doors, Konami gave an extended look at next year’s Metal Gear Solid title, The Phantom Pain. Finally, we’re being granted access as well and wow, does it look wonderful.
The lengthy gameplay demo shows off new aspects to the franchise including the somewhat hilarious Fulton Recovery System which some of you may have seen in the move “The Dark Knight” when Batman gets picked up via a sky balloon by a plane. In The Phantom Pain, Big Boss can actually use the system on various things in this world including soldiers, vehicles, objects and even sheep. Yes, you read that correctly. This is a Metal Gear game after all so nothing should really surprise you by this point. Once airlifted, these items get sent back to Mother Base, your headquarters so to speak.
Other things detailed in the video include uses for a cardboard box, new stealth mechanics for the franchise, and new tactical abilities such as supply drops or airstrikes. So without further adieu, here is the full gameplay demo courtesy of IGN. Enjoy!
