Bungie Details Destiny Alpha Stats and Shows Some ‘Moon Wizard’ Love

Bungie, this really is why I love you.

Late last week Destiny developer and former Halo curator, Bungie detailed all of the juicy stats that came from the recently released and since closed alpha gameplay period. Definitely hit that link above if you want the complete picture but for now here are some of the numbers that Bungie managed to collect during the alpha period:

  • 149,522,313 Primary weapon kills
  • 21,782,610 Secondary weapon kills
  • 21,687,298 Super ability kills
  • 6,461,871 Player games played
  • 667,966 Public Events joined

As you can see, there was a lot of shooting going on.

Now to the good stuff.

You may have heard people talking about a certain phrase given by Peter Dinklage during the main campaign mission in the alpha build. While it sparked some controversy over topics like lazy VO reading and game writing, Bungie (always a classy studio) embraced the controversy by releasing a very sweet t-shirt with the phrase on it. They then announced that all profits will be going straight to charity. The community responded in kind by making it the best selling item in their store in only one hour. Have to love seeing a studio embracing something created by the community and poking fun at itself.

Moon wizards everywhere should be proud.

Loved the Alpha, Love that shirt! I can’t believe us alpha players racked up those kinds of stats in just 4 days, that’s insane! Now we just have to wait for the beta…and what long, hard, wait it will be…

    • I know, that shirt is great isn’t it?

Yeah, it’s going to be a long wait. I found myself wanting to log back into the Alpha after it had ended. I’ll take that as a good sign for the game!
