Tony Hawk Soaring Once More With Activision

Well, here’s something I never thought I’d be writing about again. Activision and Tony Hawk are once again teaming up for a brand new game.

While speaking on his Demolition Radio show on SiriusXM, Tony Hawk confirmed that he is indeed working on a new game which was later confirmed by an Activision representative to IGN.

Outside of that, there’s really no other information. Considering recent history, you’d have to imagine Robomodo is back at the helm having put out the last three Tony Hawk games: Ride, Shred, and the downloadable title Pro Skater HD. While none of them set the world on fire with sales (can be argued that the first two almost killed the franchise completely), it’ll be interesting to see what direction the developer goes in if they decide to keep things more straight forward as we used to see with the Skate and Tony Hawk Pro Skater games or if they’ll decide to incorporate some sort of motion technology as last seen in Ride and Shred. Here’s hoping more on the former as the motion based games…well…sales numbers don’t lie on those.

I believe there’s a lot of potential these days for a well made skateboarding game considering the genre has all but dried up. So what do you think? Is this something to get excited about or should we stay in ‘wait and see’ mode?

Personally, I loved the release of Pro Skater HD. The Tony Hawks games have always been fun. I, actually, think the last “Truly great” Tony Hawks game was American Wasteland, though I’m sure a lot of people will disagree with me there!

Here’s hoping this next one goes down well!

    • Definitely, I really hope they kind of bring it back to basics so to speak. Drop all the motion stuff because if the sales are any indication, it’s not what people want.

Pro Skater HD was a big step in the right direction.
