Well, it may be nearing the end of December, but fear not, the fourth annual Gamer Crash Awards are on their way! Before we jump into 2014, lets have a look back at 2013.
For those of you that are new to the site (welcome!), the past three years in December I’ve been crowning winners for many different categories in a traditional awards style format. It was my way of celebrating the best of the year that was. My one rule was that in order to be nominated, I needed to have played the game. Like any review I do, I can’t pass judgment on something if I haven’t spent time with it. It’s because of that logic that I’ve decided to change things up a bit this year with these awards.
As you know, 2013 was an interesting year for the video game industry. We saw a ton of great AAA titles, groundbreaking downloadable/indie games, and even saw a new generation of consoles get ushered in by Microsoft and Sony. Needless to say, there’s a ton that happened these past 12 months and there’s a lot that I just couldn’t get to. With that in mind, I feel like I can’t definitively say for sure what’s the best of the best. So instead, I’m awarding all the games that I nominate this year in a sort of “Best Of” style list. I’m bringing back some of my favorite categories like Best Soundtrack and Best Downloadables as well as Games of the Year.
So as I mentioned above, things will kick off tomorrow and run till the end of 2013. Feel free to let me know what you liked as well, I’d love to hear it.
Here’s a look back at the past three years if you’re curious about winners or want to see my thought process a little more clearly:
