Here’s something I never expected to write: Aliens are coming to Call of Duty.
That’s right, Infinity Ward is adding a new “Extraction Mode” to the upcoming Call of Duty Ghosts which treads closely to the very popular Zombies mode in Treyarch’s versions. Considering how popular that is, I guess it was only a matter of time before Infinity Ward jumped on the gravy train as well for it’s games.
Extraction pits 1 to 4 players in a horde style mode as they try to survive waves of increasingly difficult enemies. Activision calls this mode a “unique blend of fast-paced survival action, FPS base defense, scavenging and class leveling.” To detail what they’re talking about, a new trailer has been released showing off this mode.
For what it’s worth, Call of Duty Ghosts seems to be packed with content and modes for players to explore outside of the traditional three: Campaign, Multiplayer, and some sort of co-op/challenge mode. Along side the very popular and new multiplayer modes, you still have the campaign, the new Squads feature, and now this new horde style game mode. For a Call of Duty game, this is a lot of content outside of the norm and a welcomed addition to what is a normally very safe formula.
