Ubisoft announced last week that their upcoming pirate inspired game, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, will also have a season pass available for players who want to get a discount on the game’s upcoming DLC. And yes, you’re right, that isn’t Edward Kenway below, but the Captain’s first mate, Adewale, dressed in Assassin garb.
So this time around, what are you actually paying for? The major component for this Season Pass is a new single player campaign centered around the big guy above. Fifteen years after joining Edward Kenway’s crew, Adewale has become a fully trained assassin. After finding himself shipwrecked and alone on a nearby island, Adewale sets out to assemble a crew and steal a ship, though what he finds is that the local populace is invested in a local slave community. What follows is Adewale setting out to help free the slaves and bring justice to their captors.
In addition to the over 3 hours of promised content, you’re also getting a Kraken Ship Pack, giving players sails, a wheel, and figurehead inspired by legendary sea creatures. You’re also getting more multiplayer characters, and more side missions within the single player campaign though what they actually are was not immediately detailed.
The season pass will run you $20 (USD) for a 20% savings rather then buying each DLC item individually. It’ll be available for all platforms and will even carry over if you purchase it on a current gen console first.
For an added look at the content, Ubisoft put together the following trailer:
I’ve literally just commented on your video round up being positive about AC4. This fucked me off. DLC featuring a new assassin when the game hasn’t even been released yet? Anything for more money. F***ng f***ers…excuse my language
While I don’t know the story in the main game or anything, based on what I know, I’d have to assume that Adewale is a big character especially since he serves as Edward’s first mate on the ship.
I don’t know, I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. I’m assuming they had this planned for a while and sort of a meaty DLC like ACIII had with that George Washington alternate storyline.
Again, I could be wrong on all of this, just speculating.
Look, I don’t mind some DLC but when it comes to single player experiences I hate the fact that I’m going to fork over between $70 and $80 for game that isn’t going to give me the complete experience.
Hey, I can’t fault you there at all, it’s a valid point. Games certainly aren’t cheap these days, that’s for sure.
yeah, any way I guess I’ll just silently weep while I decide what to do now. lol…que dramatic music
