It’s never too early for Halloween, right? With October bearing down on us and holding the title as “scariest month of the year” Bethesda and Tango Gameworks have pulled the curtain back a bit more on their upcoming horror game, The Evil Within. If you’re wondering what kind of nightmares are awaiting you in Shinji Mikami’s new game, then there’s nothing better for you than this 11 minutes of straight gameplay video.
Needless to say, it’s a pretty bad day for protagonist, Detective Sebastian Castellanos as he wakes up hanging upside down in a slaughterhouse after responding to a gruesome mass murder scene with his team. Unsure of what exactly happened and why, he takes off to explore this place of nightmare and figure out just what is going on all while avoiding that menacing looking butcher. As expected, his day eventually gets worse as he’s chased throughout this place by a maniac with a chainsaw. Like another recently released horror game, he’s forced to take shelter within a locker. You’d think these guys would think to look in containers.
I won’t spoil the rest of it for you, but needless to say, Tango Gameworks certainly has all the makings here for a truly creepy and unsettling game. I honestly don’t want to know how these guys come up with these ideas.
So huddle under the covers and crank the lights, here’s the official gameplay video for your enjoyment horror.
