The past couple of weeks have been a little dicey for those of you who’re looking forward to the Playstation 4 and enjoy capturing gameplay and uploading it to YouTube. Rumors have been saying that with the PS4, Sony again is making it impossible to use HDMI to capture gameplay.
Thankfully, at the Tokyo Game Show event last week, Sony confirmed that the rumors were indeed false and that the PS4 would allow gamers to capture gameplay through HDMI. Head of third party relation, Brad Douglas, confirmed the news via his Twitter account as well.
With Microsoft already confirming third party capture devices will work with the Xbox One and the announcement of their Upload Studio feature, Sony pretty much had to confirm this functionality or risk isolating the large number of gamers who like to capture, stream, and post gameplay. Either way, this is great news for YouTubers in general as it makes both consoles very consumer friendly.
And there was much rejoicing.
