The Search Is Over: Andrew Wilson Named CEO of Electronic Arts

Following John Riccitiello’s resignation as Chief Executive Officer this past March, EA and intrim CEO, Larry Probst, have been looking for his successor. Yesterday, EA found the person to take a more permanent hold on the position, former EA Sports Executive Vice President Andrew Wilson.

If you ask me, this is a great choice as he’s been at EA since 2000, so he’s very familiar with the company and how it works. He’s already highlighted his plan going forward which includes “continued transformation for our digital future, delivering amazing games and services across platforms, and Instilling a culture of execution that will drive profitable growth.” His official message can be found here.

With the recent trend that EA has been on, moving to eliminate rough spots like the Online Pass and Project 10 Dollar while becoming more consumer friendly, it seems Andrew Wilson is coming into a good situation. Hopefully that trend can continue as we march towards the next generation.
