In Case You Missed It: Watch_Dogs Open World Gameplay

One thing Ubisoft has done a great job of with its new IP, Watch_Dogs, is to show off gameplay. The thing is though, we’ve seen a ton of mission based objectives. What we have here is 14 minutes of open world goodness including some multiplayer game footage. It’s all organic and really gives you a good look at how immersive this game looks to be.

In the following video, we join up with main character Aiden Pierce as he wanders through the crowded Chicago streets. No missions here, only open world gameplay. It looks like in a similar vein to games like Far Cry 3, inFAMOUS 2, and past Assassin’s Creed games, you’ll need to hack a data center to really open up that part of the map of Chicago. You’re hacking abilities will be severely limited until you hack the ctOS location which then lets you profile individuals and control parts of the city.  Like any good open world game, you’re given options including going full stealth or completely loud. It’s a wonderful sandbox element, giving the player complete choice on how to accomplish a task. Later in the demo, we’re also given a run down on how the multiplayer will work as we see a rival player enter into this players world and try to hack him. There’s also potential for retaliation when the rival player escapes but the main player hacks into their game world. It’s an interesting multiplayer system at work.

Watch_Dogs came in already high on my must haves list for next-gen systems, but this video pushes that even higher. So lets join up with Colin Graham as he guides us through the near future world of Watch_Dogs. Enjoy!

this video is so freaking epic on so many levels! It’s so organic the way everything flows together

    • Yes, exactly! It feels like a living and breathing city.

I’m also excited that even through all this, they were aware enough to design situations to be played differently. Like hacking the ctOS station could be done via stealth or run and gun. I like to be given options when I play.

agreed. I’m still on the fence though if i want to get it for PS3 or PS4. If i get it for PS4, then I’m going to have wait longer…stupid gaming decisions…i curse the video game gods

        • The wait might be worth it in the long run. I can’t imagine a game this massive being even close to the same on current gen tech.

I’d imagine they’d have to cut back on a lot of stuff to make it fit.

Again, I don’t have any facts, just my opinion.

Logically you making sense and i totally agree with you BUT I’m one of those impatient buyers and an impulsive gamer.

HULK PLAY GAME NOW kind of scenario, lol
