I feel like I’ve been rolling out new awesome gameplay posts for Black Flag quite a bit lately so bear with me for the time being because I just can’t help myself. I like to highlight things that interest me here and honestly, with each gameplay video Ubisoft posts, I just can’t get enough. It’s a stark contrast for me to the lead up to Assassin’s Creed III which ultimately left me a bit underwhelmed and jaded. Thankfully, it appears that Ubisoft is willing to pull out the stops to bring everyone back into the fold with the upcoming game, Black Flag. This latest gameplay trailer does its best to prove that point.
The latest gameplay gives us a more complete look at the game as it features cutscenes, character dialogue/interaction, and actual mission gameplay all in once place. You’ll see some banter between Edward and his first mate, Adewale which gives us a different look at the game as previous videos have essentially all been focused on gameplay. The action kicks off right after aboard the Jackdaw as they begin the siege of a fort off the coastline. What I found most interesting in this video is just the sheer amount of options you have aboard the ship. You’re able to drop explosive barrels behind you, use the traditional cannon fire and swivel guns, but now, you have a mortar shot as well. With different types of ships also in the game such as the ramming Brig style ship. It’s almost like these ships are actual characters as well, forcing the player to change tactics and how they approach situations.
The other aspect I found very intriguing is the fact that these events are not scripted at all, so you could do them at night, there could be a bigger enemy presence, or even a storm raging. This aspect of unpredictability and dynamic gameplay is one of the things that excites me most as it can be a different experience each time.
The more I see of this game, the more it excites me. I can’t wait to get my hands on this one later this year. So once again, lets join up with Game Director, Ashraf Ismail as he walks us through the process of capturing a fort. Enjoy!
it does look good….but i’m still shy
Understandable and I know how you feel. AC3 left me in a bad state. I’m still kind of surprised how excited I am about Black Flag.
Guess credit goes to Ubisoft’s marketing team.
It’s almost like getting into bed with a girl you love that’s broken your heart, while she whispers to you “I want you back”. My attitude is “put out first”
