Strider Back To Work Thanks To Capcom and Double Helix

Double Helix sure is busy these days crafting the next iteration of Rare’s fighting franchise, Killer Instinct, and now Capcom has tapped them to work on the next game to star their blue ninja, Strider.

Announcing the news at this year’s ComicCon event in San Diego, California, this new entry in the series will retain a 2D side-scrolling nature with 3D elements, similar to a game like Shadow Complex. Double Helix is also planning on incorporating non-linear Metroidvania style gameplay encouraging exploration and backtracking. I’m sure we’ll be seeing some speed runs at some point on YouTube cropping up.

Here’s the debut trailer giving you a great look at the title and what it’s bringing to the table. One thing is for sure, Double Helix loves their particle effects.

Strider is looking to launch early 2014 for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, and Steam.
