THQ Back Catalog Auction Dated and Detailed

Well, here it is folks, the last time you’ll be hearing about THQ.  After their active franchises were auctioned off last month, people have been wondering when the remaining back catalog of IPs would be sold.  Well, the details have finally come out.  With THQ’s slow death march almost at an end, below you’ll find the details of when the final auction will begin.

Earlier this week, it was announced that bidding for the remaining assets of THQ will begin on April 1 with a deadline of April 15 for final bids.  The bids will be presented to the court presiding over this auction with sales going through officially sometime in May.  According to the remnants of THQ, there has been a lot of interest in regards to the leftover IPs so I’m thinking it should be pretty interesting seeing where many of these franchises end up.  It’s also worth noting that Vigil’s secret project ‘Crawler’ is also listed in lot 5 as being available to purchase.

The remaining assets are broken down into 6 lots ranging from the more recent and popular IPs like Red Faction, Homeworld and Darksiders to the ones you may have forgotten about like Juiced, Destroy All Humans and Summoner.  Interestingly enough, THQ is also auctioning off the publishing rights to IPs like Stacking, You Don’t Know Jack, and many others.  When this list was first announced, it caused a little controversy as that actual IP owners saw their games on the list and were confused by the listing since THQ doesn’t actually own the IP.  As it turns out, it’s the publishing rights up for grabs, not the IP itself.  While games like Costume Quest and Stacking were self published by Double Fine on PC, the console publishing rights were handled by THQ, hence why those are up for grabs.  Double Fine as made it known that they’re interested in regaining the publishing rights completely.

So just what is left on the table to bid on?  Quite a lot actually.  Below the jump is the official list.
