It’s Back: MLB 2K13 Is Real and Hits Stores In March

If you thought the Xbox wouldn’t have any baseball this season or Playstation owners wouldn’t have a choice, well, I have some news for you.

Fresh off the presses, 2K has announced MLB 2K13 yesterday with AL Cy Young winner, David Price gracing it’s cover augmented by the power of Zeus apparently.  Also returning is the annual Perfect Game Challenge where the first person to pitch a perfect game will win $1 Million dollars.  After a bit of controversy last year, 2K has stated that this year’s competition will have a new format but no other details were provided.

What’s interesting is that the license agreement between the MLB and 2K games was all set to expire last year.  With 2K seemingly shying away from renewing and no public announcement, it all seemed to point to the end of the baseball franchise.  Back in 2010, CEO of 2K Games, Strauss Zelnick, also when on record to say that his company “didn’t have any interest in pursuing losing propositions.”  This is announcement comes as quite the surprise as the MLB and 2K managed to work out a new deal, though there are no details on it so there’s no telling how long this will last.

MLB 2K13 slides into stores March 5 for the Xbox 360 and PS3.

I wish they had just let it die. No baseball will always be better than MLB 2K baseball …

… but I’ll probably still buy it. #sigh

Yeah, I’m extremely surprised this thing is back especially after the comments made and the somewhat decline in quality the past few games. But hey, maybe they’ll turn this thing around and find that money stream again. My optimism is showing I think.
