Spike’s Video Game Awards ’12 Recap

It’s crazy to think that it’s been 10 years since Spike debuted the Video Game Awards.  The yearly event was held this past Friday night in Los Angeles and as usual, gamer’s were given trailers to upcoming games and even a few surprises.  Oh yeah, there were awards being handed out as well.

The biggest surprise of the show came from an unknown studio called Moby Dick Studios which showed off a brand new and stunning looking game called the Phantom Pain.  The internet has been flooded with rumors about this title with the main one being this is somehow related to the Metal Gear universe.  The lead character does look a lot like Snake now that you mention it.  Not only that, people have begun calling the Studio head’s name as an anagram (Joakim -> Kojima).  Some really interesting theories out there so we’ll have to wait and see just what is going on here.

In case you missed the show, I’ve got the full recap below including the winners or each category and a Round Up of trailers that were shown off.  Everything you care about can be found below the break.
