Well, it may not be the true sequel fans of the Darkstalkers franchise have been craving, but yesterday afternoon, Capcom gave gamers another reason to celebrate when they announced ‘Dalkstakers Resurrection.’ The game was announced at the 25th Anniversary Panel for Street Fighter at New York Comic Con.
The game is currently being developed over at Iron Galaxy Studios (Wreckateer, Marvel Vs Capcom: Origins) and includes both Night Warriors: Darkstalkers’ Revenge and Darkstalkers 3 in a package probably similar to what they recently did with MvC: Origins. In addition, the game will be using GGPO online play, feature replay sharing and also YouTube functionality. Resurrection will also be coming with HD filters and unlockables including art from the folks at Udon and custom artwork by Stanley Lao.
Capcom’s resident fighting game master, Yoshinori Ono, has come out and said he wants to work on Darkstalkers 4. From the sound of things, I think it’s safe to assume that Capcom is using the sales of this game as a sort of way to test the waters. Needless to say, if this sells well, the decision would be a lot easier for them. So if you want a brand new entry, I think we all know what you need to do. Darkstalkers Resurrection is due out sometime early next year for $15 on PSN and XBLA.
To help deal with the wait, here’s its debut trailer:
