Take Two: Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two Announced

Surprise! Bet you didn’t see this coming.  Epic Disney does indeed have a sequel coming out and it’s headed up once more by Warren ‘I Bleed Disney’ Spector and his team at Junction Point Studios.  The reveal came after a tweet was put out by Geoff Keighley teasing about the game for the next episode of Gametrailers TV.  Not too long after, the rest of the details came flooding out all over the internet.

While virtually no details were revealed about the story, we do know that this time around Epic Mickey 2 will be coming out for the Wii, 360, and PS3 and will feature drop-in, drop-out co-op with the second character being controlled by the AI without another human around to play.  Mickey and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit are teaming up this time around and will now include full voice acting for the whole game.  Rumor has it that Warren is going to include elements found in musicals now having voice actors available.  Yes, you read that right, characters will break into song randomly. Musicals.  I guess it fits with the old school Disney movies.

When Epic Mickey was first announced, it was full of promise.  Hell, I even got swept up in the hype by putting together a preview of the game months before it’s release.  It sounded great on paper, but when it finally released, the reviews were very mixed and gamers found things to really dislike about the game including an unwieldy camera.  I’m glad Warren Spector and his team at Junction Point has a second chance and I hope things go better for them this time.  The guy has so much passion for Disney that I really want everything to come together.  Here’s hoping the second time around is the charm.
