It’s just dawned on me that I haven’t done one of these in quite a while. What better way to usher it back in, then with some Mortal Kombat action. I will warn you before we dive in that these could technically be classified as spoilers, so if you don’t want to ruin some secrets about the game, don’t read on. The game is just chock full of secrets so don’t worry, not nearly everything is revealed below. There’s still a ton left to discover on your own. Kollected below are how to find and fight the games secret kharacters, which will also net you some achievements/trophies in the process. Can’t argue with that.
For those not worried about spoilers, click-through the break to find out how to battle these klassic characters in the Ladder Mode.
Kombatant 1 – Klassic Jade
In my opinion, this is the most difficult one in this list to actually pull off. To start, you’ll need to be fighting Shang Tsung. To get Jade to appear, you’ll have to pull off a Double Flawless victory and then perform a fatality on him. Like I said, easier said then done. Just like her secret Mortal Kombat II appearance, Jade also uses some of Kitana’s moves like her fan throw. As a side note, there is still a jury out on how to really unlock her. The method above is the most common method, but some people have also not lost a round getting to Shang Tsung as well.
Kombatant 2 – Klassic Smoke
This one is much easier than the Jade requirements mainly because it’s a random occurence. On the “Living Forest” stage, you’ll want to keep an eye out for Smoke peeking out from behind a tree. He’ll appear to the right of the stage past the tree with the man leaning against it. If you see him, immediately press down on the d-pad and the select (back for PS3) button at the same time. The match will immediately end and you’ll fight against an old MKII version of Smoke, complete with Scorpion’s spear and teleport moves.
Kombatant 3 – Klassic Reptile
Another difficult one, tis matchup is only possible on “The Pit 2 (Night)” stage with the large moon. Basically, during the match, look for either Santa Claus or a witch fly across the moon. Yes, Netherrealm put Santa Claus into Mortal Kombat. I’ll let that sink in a bit. Similar to the Jade requirements, you’ll need to pull off a double flawless victory followed by a stage fatality. Pull it off and you’ll be sent to the bottom of the pit to fight a classic version of Reptile. True to his secret appearance in the first Mortal Kombat, Reptile comes with Sub-Zero’s Ice Ball an Scorpion’s Spear.
Kombatant 4 – Klassic Noob Saibot
Like the Smoke encounter, this one is purely random. When battling on “The Temple” stage, look in the background. When you see Noob Saibot standing off the center area, then what you need to do it win the match without blocking. Pretty simple, but if you’re having trouble, you can always reduce the difficulty. Just to be safe as well, don’t use any X-ray or enhanced moves as those use the block button to activate.
